Question: With which quotation do you agree more? In your answer, explain what kind of effect TV advertising has had on the American political process, voter opinion, and election results.
I definitely agree more heavily with the quote about Television:
“Television is no gimmick, and nobody will ever be elected to major office again without presenting themselves well on it.”
-Television producer and Nixon campaign consultant Roger Ailes, 1968
This quote exemplifies the age that we as a society have gone into. Politics are completely changed from what they were before the television simply because now, media plays a much more influential role in depicting and passing on our leaders values and campaigns, due to the fact that television has taken the American public away from other forms of media such as newspapers and things of that sort. So, since television has become the primary way of receiving news for most of the American Public, if the candidate is not on television then they most likely won’t get voted for. Television has also swayed the voters toward candidates who are more capable of presenting an electronically sound and appealing ad.
Most/Least Effective Ads
Most Effective: I couldn’t decide between these two ads because they both impacted me significantly. First of all, The Mitt Romney Ad I found impactful because of how it reflected on the historical moments in our nation’s history that instilled pride in every American. It sent the message that the greatness of this nation was not to be determined by politics but by what we do as a nation. The second ad for President Barrack Obama, I found impactful personally because it again showed moments of success that we as a nation faced throughout his presidency. Also, the Morgan Freeman voice over had be sold simply because his voice is strong and powerful and resonates, whenever I think of the voice of God I think of Morgan Freeman’s voice.

Least Effective: I found this ad least effective simply because It didn’t seem like an appropriate ad to be discussing such an important topic in such a light hearted and careless way. It just got annoying to me and I couldn’t keep watching it.
